TIEBACKS & MICROPILES

Drilled Solutions. Engineered for the Load.

Tieback anchoring and micropile foundation systems for earth retention, structural support, underpinning and challenging subsurface conditions.

TIEBACKS

Anchored earth retention systems

MICROPILES

High capacity drilled foundations

TESTING

Verification of design performance

Empire provides tieback and micropile installation for projects where access, loading, excavation geometry or subsurface conditions require a specialized foundation or anchoring solutions. Systems can be coordinated around project specific design requirements, installation criteria and testing programs.

Solutions for Challenging Conditions

DRILLED FOUNDATION & ANCHORING

Compact Equipment

Drilled systems can be installed where conventional piledriving equipment or methods may not be practical.

Engineered Systems

Pile and anchor configuration can be coordinated with project loads, subsurface conditions and delegated design requirements.

Compact Equipment

Proof, verification and load testing can be incorporated as required to confirm installation and design criteria.

TIEBACK ANCHORS

Anchor The Wall. Maximize The Excavaton.

Tiebacks provide lateral support for sheet pile, soldier pile and other earth retention systems while keeping the excavation clear of internal bracing allowing a larger foot print when space is needed. Empire can install helical or drilled/grouted anchor systems based on the project design and subsurface conditions.

EARTH RETENTION ANCHORING

Design-Build Anchoring Solutions

Empire works with contractors and qualified engineering partners to develop practical, constructible tieback solutions for the projects retention system. Anchor type, spacing, inclination, capacity and testing requirements can be evaluated to provide a design or value eningeered approach that considers both performance and installation efficiency.

Soldier Pile & Lagging

Anchored support for deeper excavations where cantilever walls are not practical.

TIEBACK APPLICATONS

Basements and Below Grade Work

Maintain an open excavation while supporting adjacent grades and structures.

Water/Wastewater

Anchored retention for tanks, structure, piping and treatment plant improvements.

Sheet Pile Walls

Tieback support of temporary or permanent sheet pile retention systems.

Civil Infrastructure

Bridge, utility, roadway and other excavation support applications.

Remedial Support

Supplemental anchoring where existing retaining systems require additional resistance.

MICROPILES

High Capacity. Small Footprint.

Micropiles transfer structural loads through weak or variable soils into competent bearing strata using small diameter drilled and grouted elements reinforced with high strength steel. Their compact installation footprint makes them well suited for restricted access, underpinning and projects with difficult subsurface conditions.

SPECIALTY DEEP FOUNDATIONS

Adaptable To Difficult Sites and Subsurface Conditions.

Micropile systems can be configured around structural loading, casing requirements, reinforced, bond-zone geometry and subsurface conditions. Where delegated design is required, Empire can coordinate sealed foundations submittals, installation criteria and value engineers options through qualified engineering partners.

New Foundations

Deep foundation support where conventional driven piles or larger drilled shafts are not ideal.

Limited Access

Foundation installation inside existing strides or constrained work areas.

Structural Retrofits

Additional foundation capacity for expansion, renovations and increased loading.

Underpinning

Transfer or supplement loads beneath existing foundations with limited disturbance.

Variable Soils

Adaptable installation through fill, obstructions and changing subsurface profiles.

Uplift/Compression

Systems can be designed for project specific compression, tension and lateral demands.

Let’s Build The Right Foundation.

Empire can review the project requirements, installation conditions and testing criteria to help define the appropriate scope and begin coordination for delegated design where required.
